Mary's Gardens , the Lillie Tower

Mary's Gardens , the Lillie Tower | Marian months of Mary, Catholic observances | Scoop.it
This article was my inspiration too and enjoyed correspondence with John Stokes, Jr., regarding his work, then since created a garden with friends at our local church, St. Cecilia's in Ashland, Massachusetts. I visited the Lilile Tower Garden and it is amazing. If you get a chance, go to Falmouth on Cape Cod, have a visit around the garden and step into the church of St. Joseph, what a peaceful experience.

Everyone brought flowers for her. Hail, Holy Queen. Just as we began singing "Immaculate Mary," God gave his Mother a great flyover. Lots of flowers for Our Lady. She saved a few for this angel nearby.

Mary's Gardens home

Now at University of Dayton, Mary’s Gardens was founded in 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to research the hundreds of flowers named in medieval times as symbols of the life, mysteries and privileges of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus–as recorded by botanists, folklorists and lexicographers; and to assist in the planting of “Mary Gardens” of “Flowers of Our Lady” today.

After the passing of John S. Stokes, Jr., his estate arranged for the migration of the original Mary’s Gardens website to The Mary Page. The Mary Page is the internet outreach associated with The Marian Library/International Marian Research Institute in Dayton, Ohio. Thank you for your interest in this field and for your patronage in the past. We hope that you will continue to enjoy this site at its new home.
